NSA Houston CHapter

Terms & Conditions

1. Membership

2. Code of Ethics and conduct

All members agree to abide by the chapter bylaws, the NSA Code of Ethics, the Professional Conduct Policy, and the Antitrust Compliance policy, as adopted from time to time. Members may be censured, suspended, terminated, or otherwise sanctioned for cause; violations of the Code of Ethics are referred to the National Speakers Association for enforcement (bylaws, Art. III, Sec. 4 and Art. IX, Sec. 2). No refund is due upon termination for cause, except where required by law.

Eligibility. Membership is open to professional and aspiring speakers, coaches, authors, trainers, consultants, and others who support the chapter's mission, subject to any requirements in the chapter's bylaws.

Memberships and dues. NSA Houston offers the following annual memberships (corresponding to the classes defined in the bylaws — All-Access is the chapter's "Professional Membership"):

  • All-Access — Standard — $347/year

  • All-Access — Partnership — $280/year (reduced rate; see below)

  • All-Access — Student — $125/year (reduced rate; see below)

Benefits for each tier are described on the membership pages and may be updated from time to time. Membership is individual and non-transferable.

Networking Pass (not a membership). NSA Houston also offers the Networking Pass$197/year — an annual subscription to the chapter's social/community events plus member-rate pricing on education sessions. The Networking Pass is not a chapter membership: it is not a membership class under the bylaws and confers no voting rights, no eligibility to serve on the Board or committees, and no Speaker Directory listing. Except where clearly stated, references to "members" and "membership" in these Terms do not include Networking Pass holders. The Pass renews and is billed on the same terms as memberships below and is likewise non-refundable.

Reduced rates (Partnership and Student). These rates require eligibility verification and chapter approval before activation:

  • Partnership — available to active members of a partner organization that has a mutual-discount agreement with NSA Houston (currently ATD Houston, HODN, and ICF Houston). You must provide proof of active membership as requested.

  • Student — available to individuals currently attending an accredited university or trade school. You must register with a valid school-issued .edu email and provide a current transcript as proof of enrollment.

NSA Houston reserves the right to accept or deny any application, and to revoke a reduced-rate membership (or charge the difference to the applicable standard rate) if eligibility cannot be verified, lapses, or is misrepresented. Verifications are submitted to [email protected].

Approval. Per the chapter bylaws, all memberships are subject to approval on written application in accordance with procedures adopted by the Board of Directors. We may accept or decline any application.

Term and renewal. Membership runs on a rolling annual basis (365 days from your start date) and automatically renews at the then-current rate for that tier unless cancelled before the renewal date. By joining, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge your payment method for the applicable dues and renewals. If dues are not paid when due, and payment is not made within 30 days of notice, membership will be dropped and all rights and privileges forfeited (bylaws, Art. IV, Sec. 3).

Rights of membership. The rights of members in good standing — including eligibility to vote and to serve on the Board of Directors — are governed by the chapter bylaws. Specific tier benefits (such as the Speaker Directory listing) are described on the membership pages and are separate from the membership rights defined in the bylaws.

Cancellation and refunds. You may cancel at any time to stop future renewals by contacting [email protected].

Dues, fees, and assessments are non-refundable (bylaws, Art. III, Sec. 6). A resigning or terminated member remains responsible for any amount owed to the Chapter incurred before resignation.

3. Speaker Directory and Referrals

Listings. The Speaker Directory is a benefit of the All-Access Standard and Partnership tiers. Listed members are responsible for the accuracy of their own profile information and for keeping it current. NSA Houston may edit, decline, or remove any listing at its discretion.

Not an endorsement. The directory and any referral we provide are a convenience to help meeting planners connect with members. Inclusion in the directory is not an endorsement, ranking, certification, or guarantee of any member's services. NSA Houston is not a party to, and is not responsible for, any agreement, booking, payment, or outcome between a member and a third party. Planners should perform their own due diligence.

4. Payments

Payments are processed by third-party payment providers (e.g., [Stripe]). By purchasing, you agree to the applicable provider's terms. We do not store full payment card details. You are responsible for keeping your payment information current.

5. Acceptable use of the Site

You agree not to: use the Site unlawfully; interfere with its operation or security; scrape, harvest, or misuse member or directory information; misrepresent your identity or eligibility; or use any contact information obtained through the Site for spam or unauthorized solicitation.

6. Intellectual Property

The Site and its content -- including the NSA Houston name, text, graphics, and design — are owned by NSA Houston or its licensors and are protected by law. "National Speakers Association" and its logo and related marks are used under the chapter's affiliation with the national organization and are governed by NSA's Logo Policy for Chapters (the NSA logo may not be altered). You may not copy, reproduce, or use our content or the NSA marks without prior written permission, except as reasonably necessary for personal, non-commercial use of the Site.

7. User Submissions

If you submit content (a directory profile, application, form response, or other material), you represent that you have the right to share it and grant NSA Houston a non-exclusive license to use it for operating and promoting the chapter and its directory. Do not submit anything false, unlawful, or infringing.

8. Third-Party links and services

The Site may link to third-party websites and tools (including partner organizations and members' own sites). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of third parties.

9. Privacy

Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what information we collect and how we use it.

10. Disclaimers

The Site and memberships are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any particular professional outcome, booking, or result will be achieved.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NSA Houston and its officers, directors, volunteers, and members will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any lost profits or opportunities, arising out of or relating to your use of the Site, your membership or Networking Pass, or any directory listing or referral, whether based in contract, tort, or any other legal theory, and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

In no event will the total aggregate liability of NSA Houston and its officers, directors, volunteers, and members for any and all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Site, your membership or Networking Pass, or any directory listing or referral exceed the total amount you paid to NSA Houston in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless NSA Houston and its officers, directors, and volunteers from claims arising out of your use of the Site, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Your continued use of the Site or membership after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas.
