History of NSA

NSA was founded in 1973 by Cavett Robert CSP, CPAE, who had a vision for an organization where professional speakers could convene to improve their presentations, exchange ideas and share experiences. Cavett felt that everyone involved in the speaking profession would benefit from growing the number and quality of professional speakers. He referred to it as “making a bigger pie.” To learn more about the national NSA organization, click here.

Recognitions-The CSP Designation

CSP — Certified Speaking Professional

Established in 1980, the CSP is the speaking professions international measure of speaking experience and skill. Fewer than 10 percent of the speakers who belong to the International Federation for Professional Speakers hold this professional designation.

The CSP designation is conferred by the National Speakers Association (NSA) and the International Federation for Professional Speakers (IFFPS) only accomplished professional speakers who have earned it by meeting strict criteria. CSPs must document a proven track record of continuing speaking experience and expertise as well as a commitment to ongoing education, outstanding client service and ethical behavior.
